Russian authorities said that a bomb filled with shrapnel exploded at a college in the Crimean city of Kerch. The attack conducted by a 18-year-old student at the college killed 18 people (mostly teenagers) and injured over 50 people in what preliminary investigators said they were treating as a terrorist act but reclassified to mass murder.
The explosion started in the polytechnic college’s cafeteria in the eastern end of the peninsula that Russia seized from Ukraine in 2014. The bomber has been identified as Vladislav Roslyakov and is believed to have opened fire randomly on those inside the building before shooting himself.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that investigators were trying to work out the motive for a fatal attack on a college in the Crimean city of Kerch. Authorities surrounded the school after the attack and evacuated other schools as a precaution
