A Canada-based based company PGW Defense Technologies confirmed delivery of the newest LRT-3 sniper rifles to Ukraine for a contract worth $770,000.
In an interview with A Ukrainian media outlet, UATV, Ross Spagrud, who is the owner of Winnipeg-based PGW Defense Technologies confirmed that the company will deliver LRT-3 50-cal BMG bolt action rifle to Ukraine following 3-4 months of contract negations.
According to Spagrud, the cost covers the delivery of LRT-3 sniper rifles, .50 caliber, some post-sales support, maintenance and training. He noted the rifles could be ready for delivery to Ukraine in Autumn.
A Look at the New LRT-3 Sniper Rifle:
Basic configuration,
- The new LRT-3 rifle has an empty weight of 11.4 kg.
- Has a length of 1,333 mm (closed with brake 1,104 mm).
- It has a magazine capacity of 5 rounds.
- Its fast, accurate, and concentrated firepower to defeat targets at distances up to a range of 1800 m.
In 2017, the House of Commons Defense Committee suggested that the Canadian government to offer lethal weapon to Ukraine on condition that it will actively work and eliminate corruption at all arms and levels of government.
In 2018, Senior officials from Ukraine’s Defense Ministry told the House of Commons Defense Committee that they welcome arms from Canada, including anti-tank weapons.
The new LRT-3 sniper rifle is designed for counter-terror operations in urban and jungle environments.
It a flexible rifle that can be folded and easily carried in a motorcycle pannier and infiltrated inconspicuously into the target area.
