Federal police force in Iraq have arrested four members of Islamic State (IS) and destroyed three of their terrorist hotbeds during a security campaign in Kirkuk.
A statement from the Federal Police Command said the troops from the fifth and sixth divisions of the federal police, with backing from the Iraqi warplanes launched a security campaign from three axes in attempt to eliminate Islamic State gangs and help maintain law and order in the outskirts of Kirkuk.
In October 2017, Haider al-Abadi, the Iraqi Prime Minister declared that Iraqi troops recaptured Hawija.
The U.S forces has been fighting alongside Iraqi forces to recapture regions held by Islamic State since October 2016, two years after the IS had taken over the regions.
IS declared itself “Caliphate” in a third of Iraq and Syria in 2014.
