Iraq security forced launched a clean-up operation against sleeper cells of the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group in the country’s eastern province of Diyala as government troops and allied fighters from popular mobilization units are trying to flush out extremists from Iraqi. Three Daesh militants were arrested during the operation.
In recent months, Daesh attacks against Iraqi security forces, pro-government fighters and civilians has been on the rise.
The security forces also found a mass grave in the northern province of Kirkuk that is believed to contain bodies of civilians killed by Daesh Takfiri when in control of the area.
Daesh militants launched their terror campaign in Iraq in 2014.
