Latest military reports from Somalia indicate that at least 10 innocent Somalis were killed by a suicide bomber in the in the market in Wanlaweyn, 90 kilometers (55 miles) south of Mogadishu.
Corresponding open source reports indicate that the bomber, thought to be with the Al-Qaeda (AQ) linked Al-Shabaab terrorist group, detonated his suicide vest inside the market in Wanlaweyn, killing the 10 civilians attending their businesses and injuring 15 others.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast but the Somalia-based Al-Shabaab has carried out similar attacks in the region.
Despite being ousted from most of its key strongholds in the Horn of Africa nation, the terrorist group continues to carry out sporadic attacks across large parts of southern and central Somalia.
