Somali’s criminal investigation department has arrested an ISIS militant operating in Somalia in Mogadishu. Jama Hussein Hassan was arrested in Somalia’s capital with improvised explosive devices believed to be used on soft targets.
Hassan says he is a former Al Shabaab militant before he joined ISIS in their Galgaala mountains hideout. A faction of al Shabaab split for the al Qaeda-affiliated faction to pledge allegiance to ISIS in 2014 and have been operational in Puntland.
He is believed to have masterminded several police officer assassinations in Afgoye in Lower Shabelle.
