KDF troops fend off a dawn attempted attack by Al-Shabaab terrorists who targeted the Army-Forward Operating Base (FOB) in the general area of Fafadhun.
The Al-Qaeda (AQ) linked Al-Shabaab fired several mortars targeting KDF army-FOB in Fafadhun. Fafadhun is located south of El-Adde. Military source confirmed there were no fatalities.
Army conducted counter operations killing a large number of the militants in a gun battle that lasted 3-4 hours. Overwhelmed, Al-Shabaab militants withdrew from their positions abandoning their improvised devices and assortment of weapons which were captured by KDF.
Possible targets to continue to beef up their security by increasing surveillance and day and night covert scouting to ensure they detect enemy movement in time.
