Somali security forces killed four Harakat Shabaab militants and a foiled what would have been a major attack in the capital Mogadishu.
The forces following intelligence tip-off successfully intercepted two vehicles that were fitted with explosives.
The first vehicle was intercepted at KM4-Airport road after it failed to stop at a security checkpoint. The forces fired at the vehicle killing the only suicide bomber before.
Less than a kilometer, a second vehicle was intercepted at the Banadir junction in Hodan district at a NISA security checkpoint Sei Piano area.
Security forces fired at the vehicle killing the three occupants of the vehicle as it forced its way through before it exploded.
Two security forces were shot dead during the first intercept.
