Security agencies in Boni Forest, Lamu County, have launched a fierce attack on al Shabaab militants who attempted to overrun a Rural Border Patrol Unit (RBPU) camp in Mangai area. The operation is in pursuit of the over 20 al Shabaab militants in the areas that have been conducting guerrilla attacks against security officers in the region.
Security has been intensified in the region with officers deployed to track down the terrorist, and the public have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious people and or activities.
A multi-agency task force has been operating within Boni Forest and its environs to man the areas as well as the fight against al Shabaab militants who use the forest as a haven and training camp for their terror cells.
