Frenchman Maxime Hauchard who is an ISIS militant and sought by French and US authorities has been killed in Syria. He has been on both governments’ radar since he appeared in an execution video in 2014.
Hauchard, who grew up in a village in Normandy before converting from Catholicism to Islam, was just 22 when he was seen holding a knife to the neck of U.S. aid worker Peter Kassig in a gruesome video from November 2014. The video also showed the execution of 18 Syrians identified as military personnel.
Hauchard became radicalized online, joining militants’ forums under the moniker Abu Abdallah al Faransi and traveled to Syria via Turkey in 2013.
