Somalia’s Danaab Special Forces in a joint operation with United State Forces killed 12 al Shabaab militants in Kuntuwarey, Lower Shabelle. The operation was targeting hideouts which intelligence strongly indicated that were habited by high-profile al Shabaab members.
Among those killed in the operation have been identified as Hassan Ahmed Diriye, Al Shabaab Leader Ahmed Diriye Abu Ubeydah and several other high-ranking commanders.
Somali security sources have identified others commanders killed as Yussuf Maalim Abdalla and Mohamud Mohamed Nur (Faruur) who have been on the watchlist for a while.
Somalia Special Forces backed by US forces have recently launched a series of attacks on Al Shabaab bases in Lower Shabelle.
