The Federal Government of Somalia’s deputy PM Mahdi Mohamed Guled has held talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. Guled is in India to attend an international meeting.
Both sides signed an agreement that is geared at enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations. The Indian-Somali relations have been strained due to tension stirred by the arrest and imprisonment of citizens from both countries. India recently released 120 Somali nationals held for years over piracy-related offenses after reaching a prisoner swap agreement in 2017.
The cooperation will see Somalia benefit greatly as she tries to rebuild and stabilize since the devasting effects of the war and violence caused by the al Qaeda affiliate, al Shabaab
