The Turkish capital governorate issued a statement early on Monday, citing increased security measures against possible terror attack threats.
The statement also said that the Governorate was tipped off by the U.S Embassy in Ankara about the possible terror threats against U.S embassy personnel and U.S citizens residing in the city.
“Embassy Ankara informs U.S. citizens that the U.S. embassy in Ankara will be closed to the public on March 5, 2018, due to a security threat. The embassy will announce its reopening, once it resumes services,’’ according to a security alert from the Embassy.
Although there have not been any attacks this year in the capital, several terror attacked happened in the years 2015 and 2016 in the Turkish capital. These attacks were propagated by PYD/PKK and ISIL terrorist groups, claiming innocent lives and injuring many others.
