Kenyan Military confirmed they killed 22 militias and disrupted a logistical base in Bula Gadud in southern Somalia.
Kenya Defense Forces(KDF) confirmed that troops successfully liberated Bula Gadud, confiscated weapons together with ammunitions and destroyed three vehicles as part of an extended Indian Ocean Operation.
The logistical base was being used by the militias to stage attacks in Kismayo
Four soldiers, one from the KDF and the other three from the Somali National Army were injured during the operation.
The liberated town was a major logistical and planning base for Al-Shabaab fighters who are on the run after the Southern port of Barawe, the last major port held by Al-Shabaab fighters was captured by AMISOM troops.
The militias lost Barawe barely a month after Al-Shabaab emir and supreme leader, Ahmed Abdi Godane, was killed in a US drone strike.
