The
Al-Qaeda affiliate in Somalia, Harakat Al-Shabaab Mujahideen movement claimed it fired rocket propelled grenades and light weaponry targeting an army checkpoint in Suuq-Holaha Village in Heliwa District of the Somali Capital Mogadishu in the night of Saturday 24th February 2018.
Somali National Army (SNA) troops manning the checkpoint returned fire forcing the terror group gunmen to retreat into the villages, probably injuring some of the gunmen.
Army personnel deployed in the area to track the group. There are no reports of casualties on both sides.
The terror group has increased attacks in the capital. Most of the attacks target police and army personnel manning various checkpoints in the capital Mogadishu.
