The Kenyan-born Al-Shabaab fugitive Ahmed Iman alias Abu Zunira is wanted the Somali based terrorist group.
The Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabaab has labelled its former Swahili video propagandist a traitor who deserves to be executed.
Majengo born Ahmed Iman Ali has been on the run from the terrorist group since September 2017. Credible sources revealed that the former commander had fallen out with Al-Shabaab leader Ahmed Diriye alias Ahmad Umar Abu Ubaidah over executions of Kenyan fighters on claims of being spies.
Al-Shabaab top leadership has since labelled him a mole who deserves no mercy. He is also wanted for aligning himself with the split Al-Shabaab faction reportedly supporting Islamic State (ISIS) in Somalia.
Al-Shabaab now claims Ahmed Iman Ali is the head of Jabha East Africa, a faction that has pledged allegiance to ISIS leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
Jabha East Africa is a former Al-Shabaab group known as Al-Muhajirouns. The group comprise of jihadists from three speaking countries; Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
Several Al-Shabaab members who have defected to ISIS faction have faced the group’s wrath. Several commanders including former deputy governor in-charge of Lower Jubba, Sheikh Abdi Gedi who was ambushed and killed in southern Somalia. He was killed by Al-Shabaab and killed alongside his four bodyguards.
Other noticeable commanders killed by Al-Shabaab for defecting to ISIS include Sheikh Bashir Abu. He was killed alongside nine of his comrades.
Kenyan fighters within Al-Shabaab ranks have also been executed over spying claims and now Ahmed Iman Ali is facing the same fate from the group he once loyally served.
