SNA arrested dozens of Al-Shabaab suspected in counterterrorism swoop conducted by the forces in Beledweyne.
The counter-raid by the government forces comes after Al-Shabaab fighters reportedly conducted two attacks in the town, an official confirmed Wednesday.
Confirming on the raid against the Al-Qaeda affiliated Al-Shabaab, Hiiraan governor, Ali Jeyte Osman said that his administration is determined to drive out Al-Shabaab combatants from the region.
He called the operation a success following the arrests of suspected Al-Shabaab terror combatants.
The Governor said as a result of the operation, a number of Al-Shabaab operatives have fled the town and sent others into hiding.
