In the recent few months sporadic incidents of terrorism have been reported in Lamu County. The incidents have been blamed on a terror cell, Jaysh Ayman, a faction of Al-Shabaab operating in Boni forest.
Security experts advice that the Kenyan military should heavily invest in intelligence gathering in order to contain and preempt future terror incidents.
Security experts and analysts also blame locals saying there is a possibility they are aiding terrorists and subsequently making it hard for military to get hold of the terrorists.
Kenyan intelligence service in collaboration with other security agencies have warned locals providing terrorists with food and even helping them get medical supplies and treatment.
Operation Linda Boni Commander Joseph Kanyiri warned locals working with the terrorists at the expense of innocent Kenyans, making it difficult to arrest the terrorists.
Experts have called on security forces especially KDF and the police forces to exercise caution saying unlike in Somalia where they are sure who the terrorists are, in Lamu the locals are harbouring these terrorists.
