A Somali national identified as Ali Khalif Shire Ali was arrested by Police in Melbourne Australia and has been taken to court over terror plot.
Police have been watching Ali Khalif Shire Ali for a long time. On Monday following on intelligence, Police arrested the 20-year-old in a Werribee shopping strip.
The Somali national is believed to have a plot to engage in terror act on New Year’s Eve at Federation Square.
The practicing Muslim was born in Australia, is an Australian citizen and his parents were from Somalia, police reports further revealed.
Ali was charged with preparing to commit a terrorist attack and collecting documents to facilitate a terrorist attack during the eve of New Year. Described as an ISIL sympathizer.
Alleged he accessed a guidebook produced by Al-Qaeda containing information on how to commit a terrorist act and use firearms, guns and handguns and rifles.
