The Borno State Police Command has said that a counterterrorism effort dubbed ‘Operation Safe Corridor’ has led to the surrender of two top Boko Haram Commander alongside other militants. According to a statement released, the surrender was negotiated on Sunday evening by the intelligence arm of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the police command with the repentant Boko Haram commanders along with their families.
Ibrahim Dala (alias Abu Ali), formerly of Kawar Mela ward, Maiduguri, and Amir of the Mamman Nur faction, along with Audu Mustapha Bukar, and Laminu Mustapha Modu all residing at Talala insurgents camp in Sambisa forest, surrendered themselves unconditionally to Borno State police command.
The surrenders were preceded by tireless efforts of an undercover operation that led to the arrest of low-level militants that disclosed the location of the Boko Haram in forest rescuing a number of hostages.
