Latest military reports indicate that Somali National Army on Sunday killed 20 Al-Shabaab operatives after the group fighters attacked Bula-gudud town located about 30 kilometers north of Kismayo town in lower Jubba region southern Somalia.
According to Somali National Army Commander of 43rd Division in Bula-gudud, Gen. Ismael Sahar-did and referenced by Somali National News Agency (SONNA) the fighters carried out car suicide bomb explosions (SVBIED) before attempting to raid SNA base in Bula-gudud town.
The terror operatives exchange intense gun fire but were overpowered by the government forces. 20 Al-Shabaab fighters were confirmed killed while several fled with gun wounds.
The Commander also refuted that that Al-Shabaab militants captured SNA and Jubbaland State forces base in Bula-gudud and recovered three armed vehicles as told by Abdiasis Abu Musab, Al-Shabaab’s military spokesman.
Somali National Army is now in full control of the area and the joint forces are conducting operations against the Al-Qaeda affiliated Al-Shabaab terrorist group in the area.
