Intelligence shows there was indeed a 2-hour battle in Afmadow where Al-Shabaab attacked KDF/TFG defensive positions but were effectively repulsed with causalities reported.
Through their twitter account @HSMPress, they have claimed to have downed 3-KDF helicopters and even destroyed APC and overrun KDF/TFG defenses in town.
This is to inform the general public and regional supporters that KDF does not use helicopters that can be shot down with guns, rather special gunship helicopters with anti-armor characteristics.
KDF is capable of scrambling efficiently both aerial and ground support on emergency basis, hence cannot fall prey to militant guerilla strategies.

The militants attempted to attack Afmadow from three points but were repulsed through both aerial and artillery batteries strategically located outside Afmadow.
KDF is professional and a highly capable army hence well placed to effectively counter any kind of attack from militants such as Al-Shabaab.
