The Somalia based Al Qaeda-linked terrorist group known as Harakat Al-Shabaab Al-Mujahedeen fired a salvo of mortar shells targeting the heavily fortified presidential palace in Mogadishu.
Two rounds of mortar shells landed inside Villa Somalia while several others landed on a nearby residential area injuring two civilians in Wardhigley district. The attack carried out by Al-Shabaab militants happened a day after a new Somali cabinet was approved and sworn in. Somali security forces have cordoned off the Presidential Palace proximity.
The extremist group denounced Somalia s new President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed as an "apostate" and warned Somalis against supporting him.
