Turkish security forces arrested over 750 people suspected if links with the Islamic State terrorist group in one of Turkey’s biggest raid against the extremist group.
According to State-run media, Anadolu News Agency, the anti-IS raids that began Monday have seen hundreds of terror suspects arrested in military raids carried out in 29 out 81provonces across Turkey.
The raid also saw documents, weapons and ammunition recovered from their shelters.
The operation came just over a month after 39 people, mainly foreigners, were killed on New Year’s night when a gunman went on the rampage inside a plush Istanbul nightclub.
The IS jihadist group claimed the massacre, its first clear claim for a major attack in Turkey although it had been blamed for several bombings in 2016.
Turkey in 2016 has witnessed a series of large scale attacks claimed by the Islamic State but the country has reiterated its stand to fight until they eliminate the enemy.
