AMISOM troops thwarted a would-be Al-Shabaab attack targeted on Forward Operating Base (FOB) outside Somali’s capital Mogadishu.
The AMISOM AU Defensive Position in Arbacow village was Al-Shabaab target on Wednesday night but the militants were thwarted with maximum power forcing them to retreat. Militant casualties also reported while AMISOM siffered no casualties, AMISOM said on its twitter handle.
Resident of Arbacow confirmed the attack saying heavy gunfire and explosions could be heard as African Union forces battled the militants.
Humiliated Al-Shabaab confirmed of the attack through their propaganda chief and the group’s spokesman. The group earlier on Tuesday night had tried to fire heavy shelling in Aden International Airport to instill fear and disrupt the presidential election but their mission was countered by SNA and AMISOM troops.
