US says it killed Abu Hani al-Masri, veteran Al-Qaeda leader in Syria.
US has intensified air raids against ISIL and Al-Qaeda hideouts in Syria in the recent past monts.
On Wednesday 8/2/2017, US military said it killed the Al-Qaeda leader alongside other 11 fighters.
Abu Hani al-Masri was a suicide bombing pioneer in a bombing raid in Syria.
Pentagon said Abu Hani al-Masri, the Qaeda veteran, was one of those killed in the precision airstrikes near Idlib carried out on February 3-4.
Al-Masri in his early years was commander in Al-Qaeda overseeing the group’s training camps in Afghanistan in 1980s.
In 1990s as he worked with Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden and current leader Ayman al-Zawahiri.
While overseeing terrorist camps in Afghanistan he also recruited, indoctrinated, trained and equipped thousands of terrorists who subsequently spread throughout the region and the world," the Pentagon said in a statement.
