Heavily armed Somali Police have been deployed to provide security on hotels frequently targeted by terrorists in the country’s capital Mogadishu.
According to Police Commissioner Ali Hirsi Barre, the security has been beefed on Mogadishu hotels which are under constant attacks by Al-Shabaab operatives.
“Heavy security preparations have been put into place to tighten the security and make sure any attack against these hotels are thwarted,” said Barre.
Barre pointed out the need for Mogadishu hotels employees to undergo some basic training on how to respond in the event of an attack.
Hotels have been soft targets for the Islamists militant group Al-Shabaab especially in the capital Mogadishu aiming at politicians, foreigners and senior government officials.
