U.S has conducted about 30 successful military operations against the Al- Qaeda linked terrorist group Al-Shabaab in Somalia. Below is some of the listed operations,
On January 7, 2017 – US forces conducted a self-defense strike near Bula-Gaduud during a counterterrorism operation to disrupt Shabaab. No reports of militant’s casualties.
On September 28, 2016 – US forces conducted air raids and killed nine Al-Shabaab combatants during a raid on a combatants IED factory near Galkayo.
On September 26, 2016 – US forces conducted an offensive and killed four Al-Shabaab fighters on training camps near seaport town of Kismayo.
September 5th, 2016 – The US launched two “self-defense strikes” near Tortoroow town after a large Al-Shabaab fighters attacked a “a Somali-led counterterrorism operation.” Four Al-Shabaab fighters were killed.
On August 30th, 2016 – US forces killed two Al-Shabaab terrorists after they attacked a Somali counterterrorism force near Gobanale.
On the 21st, 2016 – US military forces conducted a self-defense strike against Al-Shabaab, killing three. The air raid was conducted following intelligence that indicated that the terrorists were hatching and preparing to conduct an imminent attack against US forces.
On May 31, 2016 – KDF troops, backed by US forces, killed senior figure of Al-Shabaab member, Mohammed Dulyadeen, a.k.a. Mohammed Kuno and Kuno Gamadere, during an operation near Bula-Gaduud.
On May 27, 2016 – The US forces killed a senior Al-Shabaab military commander identified as Abdullahi Haji Da’ud, in south-central Somalia.
On May 13, 2016 – The US forces conducted “defensive fire missions” which “took place in remote locations in Somalia under Al-Shabaab control, unverified militant casualties reported.
On May 12, 2016 – The US forces launched “defensive fire missions” which “took place in remote locations in Somalia under Al-Shabaab control, militant casulties reported.

On March 31, 2016 – The US military forces in Somalia killed Hassan Ali Dhoore, a dual hatted Al-Qaeda and Al-Shabaab leader who also served in the Amniyat, (Al-Shabaab intelligence military wing) in an airstrike.
On March 10, 2016 – US special operations forces targeted a Shabaab training camp in Awdigle raid. Militant deaths reported.
On March 5, 2016 – The US military forces announced that it launched an airstrike which targeted an Al- Shabaab’s “Raso Camp” north of the Somali capital of Mogadishu. The US justified the strike on Al-Qaeda’s official East African branch by saying that fighters there “posed an imminent threat.” More than 150 Al-Shabaab fighters are said to have been killed.
On December 2, 2015 – US forces killed Abdirahman Sandhere, a.k.a. Ukash, a senior Al-Shabaab leader, and two other “associates” in an airstrike.
On March 12, 2015 – The US military forces confirmed that it killed Adan Garaar, a senior official in the Amniyat and “a key operative responsible for coordinating Al-Shabaab’s external operations” in a drone strike.
On February 3, 2015 – US forces targeted and killed Yusuf Dheeq, the head of the Amniyat.
On December 29, 2014 – US forces killed Tahlil Abdishakur, the leader of the Amniyat, in an airstrike in Somalia
On September 1, 2014 – The US military killed Ahmed Godane, the co-founder of and emir of Shabaab, also known as Sheikh Mukhtar Abu Zubayr, in an airstrike south of Mogadishu.
On January 25, 2014 – A US airstrike killed Sahal Iskudhuq, a senior Al-Shabaab commander who served as a high-ranking member of the Amniyat.
On October 23, 2013 – A US drone strike killed Anta Anta “the mastermind of Al-Shabab’s suicide missions.”
On October 5, 2013 – US special Operations Forces targeted Al-Shabaab’s external operations chief Abdulkadir Mohamed Abdulkadir (Ikrima), but fails to capture or kill him. A Swedish and a Sudanese Al-Shabaab fighter were killed.
On January 2012 – A US airstrike killed Bilal al Berjawi, a British national of Lebanese descent.
On September 2009 – US special operations forces killed Saleh ali Nabhan, a top Al-Qaeda and Al-Shabaab leader who was involved in the Kenya and Tanzania bombings
On May 2008 – A US airstrike killed senior Al-Shabaab and Al-Qaeda leader Aden Hashi Ayro.
On March 2008 – A US airstrike targeted a safe house in Somalia.
Spring of 2008 – The US forces killed Aden Hashi Ayro and Sheikh Muhyadin Omar in an airstrike in the spring of 2008. Before his death, Ayro was the leader of Shabaab.
On June 2007 – US forces targeted Saleh ali Nabhan, a top Al-Qaeda and Al-Shabaab leader who was involved in the Kenya and Tanzania bombings
On January 2007 – The US military forces targeted Abu Taha al-Sudani (or Tariq Abdullah), Al-Qaeda’s leader in East Africa, and either Fazul Abdullah Mohammed and Saleh Ali Saleh Nabhan, both who . Fazul is al Qaeda’s operations chief for East Africa, while Sudani is the chief strategist and ideologue. Sudani is thought to have been killed in that airstrike (Al-Shabaab said he was killed in an airstrike in 2007.)
