An Al-Shabaab commander reportedly has been killed following clashes between armed locals and Al-Shabaab terrorists near Jowhar town, about 90 kilometers north of Mogadishu.
Al-Shabaab commander identified as Abdirahman Rahole was shot severally by armed locals at Barsane area, near the town of Jowhar over forcibly Zakat collection (Islamic levy on wealth).
Corresponding reports from locals indicate that Abdirahman Rahole was killed after forcibly taking money and livestock from local residents.
Al-Shabaab still controls a number of rural villages and towns. Extorting of livestock traders has been one of their main sources of finance according to locals.
Calm has returned to the area after security arrived in the area. Locals called on to cooperate with security forces (SNA and AMISOM) in order to wipe out the common enemy.
