French police sources said on Thursday that several terror suspects arrested last week in anti-terrors were planning to launch major attacks in and around the country’s capital Paris on December 1.
According to the source, the terror suspects had researched on key areas to strike including the Champs-Elysees Christmas market and the famous Disneyland Paris among other sites.
Seven terrorist were apprehended last weekend in anti-terror operations conducted in eastern French cities of Strasbourg and Marseille.
The arrests were done following eight-month investigation. Two have been released so far with the remaining five in custody as investigations into the imminent terror attacks continues.
One of the suspects confessed to the investigators on where they had planned to attack included the police crime-investigation headquarters at the Quai des Orfevres and France's DGSI domestic security department.
Initial investigations indicate the suspects had conducted online research on their targets — Christmas market on the Champs-Elysees avenue and the Disneyland Paris theme park outside the city.
The attackers had also researched well on several cafe terraces in the northeast of the capital according to investigators report.
Some of the members are believed to have taken orders from a jihadist based out of Syria.
Police raids uncovered two handguns, an automatic pistol, a submachine gun and jihadist propaganda during the raids.
France has been under a state of emergency since a wave of attacks in the country last year, giving police wider powers.
