At least 20 suspected Al-Shabaab terrorists who arrested in a major security swoop conducted in Somali’s capital, Mogadishu on Saturday night.
Confirming about the Saturday operation, Banadir region police chief, Bashir Abshir Gedi, briefed media reporters on the successful CT-operation swoop carried out in Hamar Jajab and Waberi districts in Mogadishu to hunt down Al-Shabaab suspects.
According to Gedi, the arrested people (suspetcts) were believed to be at an advanced stage hatching a plot to conduct attacks on the city. Gedi lauded the Intelligence agency for providing information that led to their arrests before they could do anything.
AMISOM and Somali government forces have heightened up security in capital Mogadishu ahead of the election, erecting security barriers and putting up checkpoints for vehicles during day and night.
