U.S. treasury department has announced Abdallah Muhammad Bin Sulayman al Muhaysini and three other jihadist that they have been added on U.S. government list of designated terrorists.
All the four were listed for acting on behalf of Al-Qaeda’s affiliate in Syria, Al-Nusrah Front.
Al-Nusrah Front which has been the official Al-Qaeda branch in Syria has recently changed its name to to Jabhat Fath al Sham (JFS), though it has described the new brand name as merely an “alias.”
Muhaysini who is from Saudi Arabia poses to be anindependent sharia scholar with no formal affiliations in Syria but he is believed to be a senior Al-Qaeda sharia official with numerous links with Al Qaeda terrorist network.
Treasury describes Muhaysini as a key Al-Nusrah (now JFS) leader (inner leadership circle), thereby indicating that he is not truly independent.
Treasury believes Muhaysini as Nusrah’s “religious advisor” and “represented” the terrorist group “in an Idlib Province, Syria, military operations room” as of July 2015.
The Saudi jihadist has also been a prolific recruiter for Al-Nusrah and has helped to form a new jihadi “state” in northern Syria, Treasury reports further adds.
Three others designated by Treasury include Jamal Husayn Zayniyah “emir” of al Qalamun, Syria and Lebanon, Abdul Jashari is an Al-Nusrah “military advisor and Ashraf Ahmad Fari al Allak whi is an Al-Nusrah “military commander” in southern Syria.
