Julian Assange, Wikileaks founder has been denied bail and jailed in the UK.
Mr Assange turned himself to the UK authorities after an arrest warrant for him arrived in the UK and was executed.
He appeared before Judge Howard Riddle of Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London
Judge Howard Riddle denied Mr. Julian Assange bail and sent him to jail awaiting deportation to Sweden where he faces rape charges.
The controversial founder presented himself to Scotland yard on Monday after his lawyer advised him to do so.
The jailing of the Wikileaks founder comes amid more damning releases of diplomatic cables by the whistleblower firm.
However, the Wikileaks group has told the media that jailing Wikileaks founder will not stop the organization from progressing with its publishing efforts.
In the past 24 hrs, more cables were released some explaining how US was planning a NATO missile shield to protect the Baltic.
Assange through his lawyers will contest the extradition orders though intelligence officials say this will not be possible.
He faces rape charges in Sweden where two women allege he had sex with them un-consensually.
Wikileaks is facing problems after its sites were brought down and its donations payment methods such as Paypal and credit cards were crashed by the service providers.
These efforts have been recommended by the United States in an attempt to stop the whistleblower from publishing more cable releases.
However, Wikileaks multimillion following has helped the creation of over 500 sites to ensure the publishing goes on and that even if Assange is jailed, they will continue publishing more classified intelligence.
