Al-Shabaab troops are camping at Birta Dheer a few kilometers from Kismayo and a similar distance to Afmadow.

The Al-Shabaab troops are creating defensive positions around this area.
Movement of troops from Kismayo has also been noted with the Al-Shabaab command at the area to provide morale and logistics.
The defensive positions by Al-Shabaab between the road to Kismayo signals a possible end game launched by Kenyan troops.
The Kenyan troops are not far from Kismayo and they did bomb Kismayo from the sea, it is possible they will dislodge the militants in a multi-pronged attack anytime soon.
Most of the these fighters are demoralized and tired due to bad weather and injuries.
They might be easy targets for Kenyans.
