Fierce fighting resumed over the weekend between Libyan forces as they launch fresh assaults towards to dislodge Islamic State militants from their last holdouts in Sirte.
Beginning August, Libyan forces launched intensified campaigns to recapture the city now backed by U.S. air strikes; the forces are determined to oust Islamic State militants completely from Sirte.
The forces advancing against the Islamic State held town say are now in the final stages of their assaults to remove the militants from it former Northern African stronghold.
The forces say are facing stiff resistance from Islamic State militants holed up in the residential area in the center of the coastal city by they are have defended them themselves with car bombs, sniper fire, mines and shelling.
On Saturday, the forces managed to capture several buildings between Sirte neigbourhoolds and destroyed several militants technical, a car bomb before it could reach its target.
During the Sartuday operation, over 30 terrorists were killed and others wounded with bodies of slain Islamic State terrorists found in a school building according to updates posted online.
Islamic State militants losing Sirte would be a major blow. The terrorist linked to the Middle East based jihadist group captured the city more than a year ago and it has been a strategic location for them to launch attacks.
