AMISOM Police on Tuesday 30th August 2016 held a community sensitization meeting on countering violent extremism and radicalization in the southwestern city of Baidoa.
The meeting was aimed strengthening a closer bond with local community.
The community sensitized to view security officers as friends who they can turn to with information to keep Somalia off Al-Shabaab terrorists.
The meeting planned by the police component of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) was attended key people among them Abdirashid Abdullahi, the Governor of Bay Region, representatives from civil society organizations, women leaders, youth, senior Somali Police Force officers and officials from the Interim South West Administration (ISWA).
Abdirashid Abdullahi, the Governor of Bay Region called on the residents to cooperate with security officers in countering violent extremism saying all have role to play if Al-Shabaab is to completely be eliminated.
