The suicide car bomb blast that took place on Sunday 21st August 2016 in Galkaayo Somalia reportedly claimed the lives of 23 people.
The twin suicide bombing targeted the Ministry of Transport and government offices in Galkaayo, central Somalia.
The suicide bomber detonated his suicide vest close to the government headquarters in Galkaayo town then followed by another powerful suicide car bomb blast near the market.
U.S. through Department of State released a press statement condmning the terrorist attacks in Galkaayo and reiterating their commitment in collaborating with Somali forces and AMISOM troops in defeating Al-Shabaab and stabilizing Somalia.
Somali’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud also condemned the attack claimed by Al-Shabaab terrorists saying Somali will eventually prevail from the cowardly acts of terrorism on innocent people.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud noted the gains made by SNA in collaboration with allied troops saying the Al Qaeda affiliated Al-Shabaab is waging indiscriminate attack following recent military setbacks the groups has suffered in the hands of SNA and allied partner forces.
