
Fighters affiliated to the Libya’s Government of National Unity recaptured a new area in Sirte after pushing Daesh terrorist in their held city of Sirte in their latest military campaigns.
Forces from the Government of National Unity on Monday 8th August 2016 said that its fighters managed to capture a new area close to Daesh command center, east of al-Dollar District in Sirte, after fierce clashes with the Takfiri terrorists.
“Our forces have targeted Daesh snipers and their mines,” the Government of National Unity said in a statement on Monday.
Libyan forces launched large scale military operations in May 2016 in an effort to retake Sirte which to Daesh last year. The forces entered the city in June and have managed to retake several residential districts since then.
Despite Daesh resistance, the forces have vowed to continue with their advancement to liberate the whole city in an operation, for which they are getting prepared.
