Police report confirms that on Wednesday, anti-terror detectives acting on intelligence raided a house of an Al-Shabaab returnee in coastal town of Kwale.
According to Regional police commander, Francis Wanjohi, the slain militant identified as Juma Mohamed Jakarata alias Modi Tulia was an Al-Shabaab operative gunned down for engaging in terrorism activities.
During the dawn raid at his house, a grenade was recovered from his house.
Juma Mohamed aka Modi Tulia is a Somalia trained Al-Shabaab returnee, police commander said.
Upon being cornered, Jakarata attempted to hurl a hand grenade at the police officers but was silenced just outside the house.
