Kwale police detectives were on Friday 1st July 2016 question six terror suspects who were on Thursday night arrested at a house in Mwaluphamba area.
The six terror suspects included four who police referred to as Al-Shabaab ‘brides’.
Aisia Hamisi, Miriam Bakari, Mwanahamisi Saidi, Amina Saidi Omar, Fatuma Masudi and Namangwe Mohamed were arrested on Thursday night in Mwaluphamba in a security operation aimed at flushing militants in the area.
Namangwe Mohamed according to reports is a well-known Islamic teacher with links to Al-Shabaab. He is reportedly involved in recruitment of several youths into the Al-Shabaab terrorist group.
During the operation, police recovered IDs, CDs which had sermons by the radical extremist, and the late Sheikh Aboud Rogo. The CDs contained messages on ‘martyrdom and radicalization’.
Reports indicate they were planning to cross over to Somalia from Lunga Lunga border.
Kwale County has the highest number of al Shabaab returnees, followed by Kilifi and Mombasa Counties.
