The Al-Qaeda affiliate in Somalia Harakat Al-Shabaab Mujahideen (HSM) on Saturday 11th June 2016 issued a statement confirming killing of Kenyan “Mujahireen” as it continues its use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of sociopolitical aims (terrorism), a common strategy by foreign terrorist organizations (FTO’s).
HSM charged and executed approximately 4 Kenyan fighters with espionage. The execution of the mujahireen came just a day after the group suffered a devastating defeat after a botched attack against Ethiopian Army (ENDF) AMISOM contingent based in Halgan (Halgan District is a district in the central Hiran region of Somalia).
- Abdullah Abdulmajid Faraj who Kenyan fighters claim was a significantly resourceful jihadist, was accused of facilitating the killing of HSM clerics and scholars (Sheikh Aboud Rogo, Sheikh Samir Khan, Sheikh Ibrahim Rogo, and Sheikh Abubakar Makaburi) through collaboration with Kenya’s anti-terror police (ATPU), British intelligence service MI6, American intelligence services CIA, and Israel spy agency Mossad.
- Abu Jared Mokae Omambia, a Kisii man from Eldoret in Kenya’s Rift Valley was charged with spying for the Kenya anti-terrorism police (ATPU). According to HSM, Abu Mokae was a deep cover agent for the Kenyan ATPU; All which is utter nonsense since ATPU operates and largely depends on intelligence provided by the National Intelligence Service of Kenya (NIS).

After ENDF-AMISOM Continent killed approximately 140 Harakat Al-Shabaab Mujahideen militants, HSM, to save face, enforce discipline in the mujahireen, and remain relevant, engaged in undisputed but largely successful propaganda drive by killing members of the group and publicizing the killings to dispel fears of defeat and a a decline in its capability..
It named the Kenyan’s who had joined its rank and fold as traitors, jasus, and unfit to serve the Muslim ummah; simply they were heathens, further insulting the large Kenyan militant community that has been significant in HSM success in Somalia.
The 2 alleged spies were neither spies nor dissidents in the terror outfit, rather victims of senseless suspicion according to intelligence officials. They weren’t Kenyan or Western Intelligence services deep cover assets. Those aspersions are pillars of HSM propaganda drive after its Ramadhan defeat and setbacks.
Why is HSM targeting Kenyan fighters? Obviously out of frustration factored by a decline in recruitment of Kenyan fighters, lack of money to pay the Kenyan fighters, large numbers of deserters, and most interesting, ISIS terror group lucrative offers and appeal to Kenyan fighters who fight for money instead of religion (large number of crooks, muggers, armed robbers, rapists, pick pockets, and street urchins from Kenyan towns & criminal gangs).
Kenyan Mujahideen in Harakat Al-Shabaab Mujahideen is uneasy. They don’t get their pay. They aren’t accepted despite their significant contribution to HSM in Somalia. In fact, they’ve become scapegoats every time HSM loses heavily; observes intelligence officials. Most of the Kenyans want to quit, but they are quickly executed. Many haven’t been paid let alone earn a quarter of what they were promised during recruitment. When they ask for the pay, they are reprimanded or expelled and later killed. Sadly, they are left with one option, death in the fields or at their mobile camps. Either way, they die anyway.
The amnesty offer by the government of Kenya is giving the Kenyan’s hope of life. Approximately 400 have returned home under the program. The program ensures the deserters are registered, rehabilitated, de-radicalized, and reintroduced back to the society. Many are looking for an opportunity to get to the border and breath the fresh breath of freedom and hope others are hoping ISIS can surge against HSM and save them from the jaws of death.
