AMISOM police in Somalia on Tuesday 7th June 2016 resolved to work closely with Somali police force in making sure Mogadishu is safe during the holy month of Ramadan.
AMISOM officers will hand in hand with Somali police to make sure Somali populous as well as visitors go about their businesses without disruptions.
AMISOM police officers from Formed Police Units (FPUs) of Uganda and Nigeria, and Individual Police Officers (IPOs) were dispatched after a briefing by the Acting AMISOM Police Commissioner, Francis Ayitey Aryee, and AMISOM Police Acting Operations Coordinator, Emmanuel Mukama.
The officers have been deployed to key and strategic locations as part of new measures to help beef-up security and maintain peace during Ramadan period.
Ramadan period is usually faced by heightened threats from jihadist groups from across the world who like to conduct martyrdom suicide missions during this holy month.
Acting AMISOM Police Commissioner, Francis Ayitey Aryee, threat assessment and analysis have been put in place in an operational plan to enable the joint security officers drawn from AMISOM and Somali police provide protection and security to the communities and residents of Somalia as they observe Ramadan.
