Nigerian troops on Saturday 4th June 2016 claimed victory over Boko Haram insurgents after they killed 19 of the group’s fighters in an operation in Borno state.
Acting on intelligence report, the army raided Boko Haram fighters in Chuku-ngu-du camp. The camp leader identified as Ameer Abubakar Gana, was also killed in the army raid.
The troops also reportedly destroyed an explosives factory, detonated four IEDs and recovered two ant-aircraft guns among other weapons.
On Friday 3th June 2016, Boko Haram insurgents ambushed soldiers from Nigeria and Niger at border area killing 32 officers. 30 soldiers killed were from Niger and 2 from Nigeria.
Boko Haram pledged allegiance to the Middle East-based Islamic State terrorist group.
