DEFENCE COLLEGE, KAREN NAIROBI
Friday 27th May 2016, Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Defence Amb Raychelle Omamo presided over the 18th national Defence college graduation ceremony in Karen, Nairobi.
CS Omamo congratulated the grandaunds after awarding them with certificates of excellence. The CS also took time to thank their families and individual countries for supporting them.
She also challenged the officers to use the enormous knowledge, skills acquired in working hard to ensure Africa is propelled in all sector and especially work hard towards enhancement of peace and security in the continent and beyond.
CS Omamo also thanked of Defence Forces General Samson Mwathethe and the Service Commanders for their efforts and creating avenue for women in Defence Forces of Kenya. The Forces has in recent time appointed the first woman Brigadier in East and Central Africa.
The Course Number 18-2015/16 brought together 39 members from the military, police and civilian component from various African countries; Botswana, Burundi, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Rwanda, Germany, Nigeria, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The course took 48 months whereby the participants were trained on how to solve management, security and public policy problems.
The ceremony was graced by Kenya Chief of Defence Forces General Samson Mwathethe, Defence Principal Secretary Amb Kirimi Kaberia, Vice Chief of the Defence Forces Lieutenant General Joseph Kasaon, Commander Kenya Army Lieutenant General Leonard Ngondi, Commander Kenya Air Force Major General Samuel Thuita, Commander Kenya Navy Major General Levi Mghalu, outgoing NDC Commandant Lieutenant General Jackson Waweru, Commandant Defence Staff College Major General Ngewa Mukala, other senior military officers and the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet.
