
Gunmen from Democratic Republic Congo (DRC) on Sunday shot dead a Ugandan fisherman on the disputed waters of Lake Albert.
Police report say Mr Wathum Mundu, 30, a fisherman and a resident of Dei B in Panyimur Sub-county in Nebbi district was shot dead by plain clothed gunmen believed to be from DR Congo.
Corresponding report by a survivor say that they were arrested by armed men reportedly from DRC who killed one their colleague over unclear reasons.
The armed gunmen in plain clothes and AK 47 ordered them face the groumd before their colleague was shot, Mr Ozelle Wathum added.
LC3 chairman of Panyimur Sub-county, Mr Shaban Ofoi condemned the shooting and called for immediate intervention by the two govenments.
The killing of the Ugandan fisherman by gunmen from DRC comes just weeks after another incident that saw four Ugandan Policemen shot dead at DRC border by armed men suspected to be Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The killed Ugandan officers were responding to an illegal fishing incident at Mulango on the Ugandan border. After they were ambushed, their rifles and police boat were seized.
