Latest reports by Somali National News Agency (SONNA) indicate a major crackdown conducted in Yaqshid district in Mogadishu by Somali National Intelligence Agency operatives (NISA).
According the Somali national media outlet, the security operation in Yaqshid district saw illegal firearms seized and owners apprehended.
The spokes of Banadir region, Abdifatah Omar Halane speaking to Somali National News Agency, confirmed the operation.
“The NISA soldiers have carried out security operation at Yaqshid district in Mogadishu and have apprehended a rocket propelled grenade and two AK47 rifles, a mother and her three children live in the house where the firearms were found, and there is an ongoing investigation related with the owner of the firearms” said Abdifatah Banadir region spokesman.
The security operation by NISA is replicated by Somali government forces engaged in security operations in Somali’s capital Mogadishu in a renewed effort to restore security in the sea city.
