Intelligence on the Kenyan oil find provides insight on exactly who did the exploration and what has been going on in Turkana and other areas such as Isiolo and the Coast of Kenya.
Two companies, Africa Oil Corp (AOI.V) and Tullow Oil Plc (TLW.L) operates the Block 10BB on a 50 percent each working interest meaning they are strategic partners.
Intelligence reports on the Kenyan oil discovered in Turkana’s Ngamia-1 Well reports a shallow well (20 meters deep) which only confirms more hydrocarbons deeper in the land.
Intelligence on the oil find byTullow and Africa oil also hint huge deposits due to the shallowness of the well and the rock structure of Ngamia-1.
If the rock structure is very promising and the oil is near the surface (shallow well), more oil may be deeper in the land owing to the fact that exploration might see up to 800 meters deep drilling.
Quality of Kenya’s New Found Oil
The oil discovered by Tullow Oil and Africa Oil is believed to be very high quality and comparing only to that found in Libya.
Africa Oil Corp has told away that the Ngamia-1 well will now be drilled to a depth of about 2,700 meters to explore further potential of the Kenyan oil find there besides bring to light its commercial viability.
Ngamia-1 well lies in the Lokichar Basin. The Basin is one of seven basins mapped in Africa Oil’s acreage.
