
Police have arrested 114 illegal immigrants from various countries in a major security operation in Nairobi.
The operation that was launched on Wednesday night saw 114 immigrants arrested in Ruaraka area, Nairobi County.
Men and Women drawn from different countries such as Ethiopia, Nigeria had been seen in various apartment in Ruaraka’s Allsops area.
Police acting on tip-off arrived in Lorries and began the operation.
According to Starehe OCPD Alice Kimeli, all the arrested individuals were in the country illegally citing they lacked proper documentation.
Kimeli said the the few with document are will undergo verification after which the arrested individuals will be arraigned in court.
There has been resident outcry in Ruaraka on the rising incidents of crime and investigations are still ongoing, Starehe OCPD added.
On the same day (Wednesday 9th March 2016) 23 Ethiopians were arrested in an apartment in Kahawa West Nairobi.
Police has intensified the crackdown against the illegal immigrants and human trafficking in the country especially increased cases of Ethiopian nationals nabbed in the country while on transit to either Tanzania or South Africa.
Majority of the nabbed aliens cannot properly express themselves in English.
