YAOUNDE: Cameroon claims that its soldiers have liberated northeastern Nigerian town of Goshi from Boko Haram.
According to OSINT reports, a spokesman for the government of Cameroon said that their soldiers killed more than 160 Boko Haram fighters and rescued hundreds of hostages, both Cameroonian and Nigerian.
Cameroon Communications Minister Issa Tchiroma Bakary revealed that Cameroonian military launched raids between February 11 and 14 on Goshi where intelligence pointed out Boko Haram militants were running some training camps and bomb factories.
Intelligence reports further indicate that Boko Haram was also training teenagers, especially girls. Most of these girls are brainwashed to become suicide bombers.
Cameroon obtained the approval of Nigeria to free Goshi from the Boko Haram insurgents.
The operations led by Cameroon Special Forces saw 162 Boko Haram fighters killed from their assaults. Four artisan mine factories were dismantled and an identified training base destroyed. Assortment of weaponry was seized besides rescuing of hundreds of people held hostage, Bakary said in a statement.
During Goshi raid Cameroon lost two soldiers. Cameroon troop which have now left Goshi, celebrated the victory with Nigerian troops. Goshi lies some 15 kilometers from Cameroon’s border with Nigeria.

Cameroon, Nigeria, Chad, Niger and Benin have formed a strong regional force (currently with 8,700 soldiers) conducting raids on Boko Haram strongholds along the border since last year.
Nigeria based Boko Haram pledged allegiance to Islamic State terrorist group in 2014.
