Latest military reports indicate that Saudi fighter jets have been deployed to Turkey’s Incirlik airbase ready for anti-ISIL fight.
Saudi defense has confirmed the deployment of it warplanes to the Turkish airbase in order to intensify its operations against ISIL terrorist group in Syria.
“The Saudi kingdom now has a presence at Incirlik airbase in Turkey,” brigadier general Ahmed al-Assiri was quoted saying by Al-Arabiya television late on Saturday.
According to the brigadier, Saudi fighter jets with their crews are ready to take part in the aerial operations together with missions launched from bases in Saudi Arabia. The brigadier did not provide further details about the mission.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu confirmed the arrival of Saudi warplanes in Incirlik saying the two countries will continue bolstering the war against ISIL in Syria.
Both Riyadh and Ankara are opposed to leadership of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Last week Syrian Foreign minister warned that any ground intervention would amount to aggression that will be resisted.
